When we took over Rainbow's End Resort in 2002, we were looking for a business. We found that the Resort business comes with many friends who come to visit, fish, and play each summer. More and more of our summer guests are coming from other resorts that have gone out of the fishing resort business. At Rainbow's End Resort, we believe that many people should be able to enjoy the wonders of Northwestern Wisconsin. To help make the Resort something that can continue on as you've known it, Rainbow's End Resort, LLC was formed in 2008. This Limited Liability Company helps keep the services we offer and the name you've known for so long continuing landmarks in the best of the Chetek hospitality tradition. You'll see added features here and there, such as our accepting credit and debit cards. We also plan to continue repairing and upgrading our accommodations, including replacement of aging wooden docks with new roll-out models. And you'll still find Carol and Don as your hosts for your vacation stay in the heart of what we feel is America's real vacationland. |

In 2007, the aging wooden seawall was replaced with rip-rap, an erosion resistant fabric covered with rocks. During the summer, the native plants which sprouted along the shore were allowed to grow. Their roots add stability to the soil beneath the rip-rap as well as make the shoreline look a bit more natural. |

The Wildlife Cafe has been extremely popular this winter. The sunflowers, corn, and wild bird feed we put out has attracted many nuthatches, chickadees, blue jays, and occasional crows and red headed woodpeckers.
To our surprise, we have also been visited by a whitetail doe. These deer are common in the area, but we haven't had one in the yard until this year. An occasional visitor, this doe stops by after dark and sometimes late on moonlit nights. (Sorry, she won't pose for photos!) |

| .Last summers project of making a lighted path along what is soon to become a field of wildflowers is complete. Alberta, a dwarf Alberta Spruce tree, and the centerpiece of the wildflower plot, is thriving. During the winter, Alberta has been adorned with white lights. |

The overhead yard light, off in the winter, is planned to have a shade in place for the summer season to keep the light on the ground and out of your eyes. The fish house lights also will have shades to direct the light to where it does the most good. The goal is to have well lit grounds without lights visible from the water or overhead. |

| Visit the WDNR web site describing the threat Eurasian milfoil poses to Wisconsin fisheries. | There have been no reports of Eurasion milfoil or zebra mussels in the Chetek Chain. There are no reports of the VHS virus, either.
Many of our guests come from areas that are already affected. We ask everyone to check your boats and trailers to prevent the spread of these and other invasive species. Your extra effort helps keep our fishery great for everyone. Thank You !! |

| Rainbow's End Resort now accepts Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. This convenience to our guests can help vacationers budget better and reduce the need of carrying large amounts of cash.
For those who prefer to pay cash, we are planning incentives in 2009 that will make this more worthwhile for you. For one merchant's view of how credit card work, click here. Our experience so far indicates that accepting credit cards will be an advantage both to our guests and to the Resort. For those who have patiently waited for this service, thank you for your patience! |

| Vist the WDNR web site explaining about the emerald ash borer and how this ruling prevents its spread. | The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) has ruled that no firewood may be transported into Wisconsin from out of state and that any firewood in Wisconsin cannot be transported a distance of more than 50 miles. As this includes most of our summer visitors, many of whom may not keep current on Wisconsin law, the WDNR has asked us to let you know about this ruling. We don't encourage burning wood in our charcoal grills. Those who bring their own outdoor fireplaces should plan on getting wood locally. Kirkwood's in Chetek usually has bundles of firewood for sale in the summer. | |
