Day Trip: Country Lane Pantry

Country Lane Pantry is a Mennonite run country store featuring spices, cereals, grains, cheese, meats, and even Birch Beer! Birch Beer is a soft drink like root beer, but a bit stronger. They also have some Amish furniture for sale. Mennonite handcrafted sweaters and other items can often be found there.

The Thursday Ice Cream Social is a weekly favorite.

In season, fruits, berries, and produce are available.

There is an Amish furniture store in Barron that would make a good stop to go along with Country Lane Pantry. Just stay on U.S. 8 into Barron and look for the store on a corner on the right about midway through town.

You can continue on to Rice Lake from Country Lane Pantry by turning left (north) onto the road from the Pantry. Go to highway 48 and turn right. You'll come into Rice Lake past Bargain Bill's and Bear Paw.

Getting There

From Rainbow's End Resort, take county SS or U.S. 53 north to U.S. 8. Go west (left). As you enter Barron, just past the cemetery on the right and just before the Embers Restaurant and gas station on the left, turn right. Look for the Country Lane Pantry sign on the left side of the intersection. Country Lane Pantry is to the right on this road, about three miles or so from the turnoff. It is a big farm on the left side of the road. The store is in the barn behind the house.
